Yep you got that right, I am up with this post to try my luck at CAS-ual Friday's - The Blue Challenge - Guest Spot and yes this post is going to be a long one so grab some coffee, relax and read on....
First of all, wanted to let you know that at Fascinating Friday's (Paperie Designs' Studio) we have featured Vicki Dutcher of All I do is Stamp. I am big fan of hers and I am sure you will love her too :) So check out the feature by clicking HERE...
Now, to my cards... this is kind of a tribute to CAS-ual Friday's Zigs & Zags stamp set. So the challenge is to create new project in Blue using a product of CAS-ual Friday's. I have this Zigs & Zags set. Basically, this set comprises of 5 styles in chevron pattern.
And for creating my card, I used each pattern to create a new card. The fun part was, I did think these stamps as something more than Background builders and created the following...
I think, I got Virginia's bulb - DING in creating these :) LOL. All my cards are in Blue as the main color, inks used are - Hero arts - Chalk Ink - Cerulean, Hero arts shadow ink - Stone wash and Memento dye ink - Danube blue.
I think, I got Virginia's bulb - DING in creating these :) LOL. All my cards are in Blue as the main color, inks used are - Hero arts - Chalk Ink - Cerulean, Hero arts shadow ink - Stone wash and Memento dye ink - Danube blue.
Card 1 - Christmas trees (using 2nd stamp)
I stamped this chevron pattern in 3 different inks fuzzy cut and each of these and further cut this pattern to create my trees. The landscape was hand drawn and fuzzy cut. Before layering them on card base I did some sponging. All the elements were stuck using foam dots. Star were stamped from a stamp set purchased from a local craft store( holiday Spotlight - Joynailing set). Tree trunk is cork and sentiment is hand written.
Card 2 - Lanterns (using 3rd stamp)
I saw these lanterns in this particular set and then came up with this card. I stamped this stamp twice and fuzzy cut it. You can make minimum of 3 lanterns from one stamped image. On the card base I hand drew the wire that will hang the lights. Stuck these with foam dots and finally stamped some dots using the back rubber of a pencil to create a bokeh effect (I used Hero arts Butter bar ink for the dots). Sentiment is from Stamping up.
Card 3 - Umbrellas (using 1st stamp)
I was thinking about stamping these chevron on some die cuts and then it clicked that if I stamp them on circles I can create umbrella :) so here I go... I took the next pattern stamp and stamped it on circles cut out from white card stock using sizzix dies. Then fuzzy cut and inked them lightly at the base. I hand drew the sticks of umbrella and colored them in brown, Stamped these mini hearts (from American crafts The blue skies clear set) in Memento dew drop Rich Cocoa ink). Sentiment is from paper sweeties.
I will to enter this card to the following challenge -
Card 4 - Sewing (using 4th stamp)
This set also had a chevron that looks like stitches so, I got this idea... To make this I stamped the clock from Prima stamp set, chevron and the spool of thread (from Stampabilities Sewing set). Added some splatter on pool using pool ink from Adriondack. I had these die cut hearts sent by a friend which I colored in red, punched out butterflies from vellum usind Picture punch and hand drew the thread and wrote the sentiment.
I will enter this card to the following challenges -
Card 5 - Repeat Chevrons (using 5th stamp)
This is the 5th and the last stamp from this set. I created a one layer card with this using this stamp repeatedly. I created a focal rectangle and masked the edges around using post it notes. now in the black space I used another post it not to create these triangular areas masking of the rest. I also did some inking around the edges. Stamping was done in shades of blue. I then added some hearts die cut and gem stones (sent by a sweet friend) to finish the look. Sentiment is from Paper Sweeties.
I will enter this card to the following challenges -
So, that's it :) I know it was too long but I did learn something from this one. We can use same stamp set in many different ways and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did in making these :)
I wish to enter each card for CAS-ual Friday's challenge :)
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment :)
