Diwali Bloghop 2013

Hi, my dear friends... I am here to share a couple of cards I made for the Diwali Bloghop -2013 an initiative of Chaitali Narla. There are some amazing prizes to be won with this Bloghop, all you have to do is to hop and comment and bring yourself a chance to win..
THE PRIZE!!
Chaitali has 2 sets of her newest stamp set, Henna Swirls, to give away to 2 lucky winners of the hop!  and the sponsor of this prize is There She Goes

You must have arrived here from amazingly talented Gayatri's blog...

So, when Chaitali asked me, I had to say yes because Diwali is my favorite festival. We call it the festival of lights. This Festival is known to bring prosperity and wealth :) The festivities begin must before the final day of celebration and prayers. We clean the house and decorate it with lights and earthen lamps (it is said that Goddess Lakshmi - the Goddess of wealth arrives in clean houses... and who doesn't want to be wealthy ;) lol ) Besides, we also meet our friends and relatives and greet them with gifts, just the way it is done in Christmas. And for crafters like me... this is another chance to make cards and more cards...

So here are my cards...

The diyas (earthen lamps) in both the cards are hand drawn and cut. First card was inspired by the Jennifer Mcguire tutorial and it involves stamping and  glitter smear on stamped dots and the second card has my favorite technique of masking and inking :) Hope you will enjoy my card.

Now you have to head over to Pooja's amazing creation, here..
Also, this is the bloghop list, in case u have missed anyone...
Deepti < you are here >

Wish you a very happy and prosperous Diwali !!

More cards and challenges...

Well, friends... I made these two cards because I am heading off for a holiday and will not be able to craft for a while. So I squeezed in some time for crafting in the mid of rigorous packing ;) lol can't help it...
My first card is inspired the the theme at CASology week 68 - BLACK and by the sketch at the Retrosketches #87. Here's my card....
To make this, I embossed some lines using Martha Stewart score board. Cut out a black panel, further cut out the black panel to display the light coming from flash light and replaced it with inked white panel. The flash light is hand drawn n colored. The heart ( from Studio G - iClear set) is stamped and fuzzy cut. Sentiment is hand written :)

My second card is a Christmas card inspired by the lovely Muse #41 card from Janet Ribet and by the challenge started by our  very talented Nonni from Korttikarkuri My Christmas cards Challenge #2- use old stash.
To make this I inked the base of the card just above the snowscape. Snowscape is hand drawn and cut out from white card stock scrap, the birch trees were made from old scrap (DCWV - Basics), the deer is made by inking using a stencil. Star are embossed, cut (using Momenta dies) ans inked. All elements are stuck on the card base :)

Catchy Challenges - Keep Calm and Go girly

Hello, lovely ladies... it's the 1st of November which means it's time for another month long challenge at the Catchy Challenges. This time we are having a challenge to create a Scrapbook page with the Theme - "For a girl" ... we have numerous possibilities with this theme. You can create a page for a new born, for a birthday, for wedding, graduation... basically any idea of celebration for a girl.

For my DT card, I went with the wedding theme... I kept the page CAS by using minimal colors.

To make my scrapbook page, I cut the white pattern paper (from The Paper Studio - Blank Boutique pearl finish) to 8x8" and did the rest of the layout. For a photo I cut out two ovals in white and pink (to form the frame). I cut out a square panel to write a note and embossed it. Next, I decorate the entire page with some punched flowers, butterflies and leaves (using Nestabilities foliage dies) A final touch was added by some gems and pearls.

There is a lot of inspiration for you from our lovely DT, please head over to the challenge blog, HERE to get a glimpse of some amazing inspirations and the details of the challenge. Excited to see what will you come up with...

Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment :)

ATSM #69 - Addicted to CAS

We have a wonderful new challenge for you this week at Addicted to stamps and more... Addicted to CASWe all know what clean and simple is right? It's all about the design, not the technique,  not the tools, not the embellishments. It's all about the design Uncluttered, lots of white or open space and one main focal point. For my DT card I followed the same rules...

To make this card,  I used a wood mounted stamp (from Anita's Inque Boutique) and did some paper piecing. I also created the glow behind the gift boxes by masking and inking. The shadow from the boxes was created using grey pencil color. Sentiment was hand written. Hope you like my card.

There is a lot more lovely inspiration from the DT, Please visit our challenge blog here. The winner will receive a wonderful prize from our sponsor this week Nicecrane Design. Take a peek at their store here

I am excited to see what you will come up with ....

ATCAS #25 - ONE LAYER

It's time for yet another challenge at Addicted to CAS and all our dear CAS lovers get set as the code word this week is ONE LAYER selected by our sweet and talented Kylie. She is also the host for this challenge.

Our winner will get a great prize from our amazing sponsors Digi Darla Designs

For my card, I decided to go one layer for recreating a typical tree with all the fall colors that I see here. I am so much in love with the Fall, this card can be a tribute to nature's gift to us :)
To make this card, I roughly and lightly hand drew the tree trunk with a pencil, Then I used my wood mounted Studio-G leaf branch Stamp to stamp with shades of green, orange and red and yellow (using Memento Dew drop Inks). I also masked and stamped a few leaves at the base to indicate that they have fallen. Then, I did some inking in the corner to show that sun is shining through. Finally I made my tree trunk using Sharpie Markers :) The bird (from Prima Stamps) and the sentiment (from Paper Sweeties - You make me smile set) were stamped for finishing touches. Hope you like my card :)

Our DT has come up with some amazing projects this week. Pop over to our ATCAS challenge blog here and take a peek. I am looking forward to the challenge this fortnight and am very excited to visit your blogs.
