Hi friends! Finally I am back on track as far as card making is concerned, I have been missing in the blog land for a few days. Well, the reason was that I had to go through the most dreaded thing in the world "A root canal" , yeah! I hate going to the dentist... after delaying this for a few months, I put together all my strength to take the hit. Obviously, I had issues in chewing and cold and what not...
Alas! to my fear, the session turned out worst than expected. My tooth was not getting numb even after 5 injections... what a nightmare! I hope no one has to go through this :)
Anyways, I am here to talk about a mixed media card. Earlier my understanding of mixed media was more like too much of textures and layers and techniques and what not but with being on Mixed media team, I have learnt a mixed media card can also be as CAS as you wanna keep. So besides Stamps and inks card should have dimension, technique and texture. At least two of these 3 elements. It is so damn easy :)
So I made this card to remind you for the Mixed Media Card Challenge #1 - Touch for Nature is still on and u can share ur cards HERE.
I was inspired by a AAA Card challenge #11 - ENJOY and A Blog Named Hero #48 - Sheet Cake to create this. Since my card has sparkly water colors, I will link it up at Stamplorations July Challenge - Stamps & Glitter
To make this card, I took the water color card base. Created a grid to mark the places where I will stamp the birds and the squares. I first stamped the birds and then the boxes. I masked the bigger bird before stamping the box. To showcase my sentiment, I water colored three of the boxes in black and the last one with rainbow colors. I hand wrote the sentiment and hand drew the stitch lines. To add dimension I added these tiny diecut hearts with foam adhesive.

By the look of it you might think, it's not a mixed media but it is! just remember the definition and guess what, we often make cards without even realizing that it's a mixed media. So whatever is ur style u can play along with us :)
Okay, I am not done yet coz there is another card to share... of course I was deprived of card making and when I got a chance I made two :) This one was inspired by CAS-ual Friday's #133 - Summer Lovin', the Sketch at Sketch Saturday #318 and Virginia's View #5 - Die cut. So here's my card...
I masked of the edges of the panel and created a wavy mask to make the vertical rainbow by inking. Then I cut out the hearts and an extra white smaller heart. Added it all on card base with Foam dots. I also went arount the edges of the hearts with white acrylic paint marker and did some splatters with white. Additionally, I added the sentiment and stapled the vellum leaf die cut.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment.

I'll admit it, Deepti..."mixed media" kind of scared me...I'm not one for a billion layers on a card. Thanks for helping me to learn that mm can be CAS too! Your cards are beautiful. Love the little birds, and at first, I thought you'd actually sewn on it! Your artistic talents know no bounds!! Love the pastel rainbow with the little hearts and vellum leaves. Two gorgeous cards. Have a great weekend!! Bev

ReplyDeleteWonderful cards and the touch of vellum is fab. Sorry to hear about the route canal....I know how painful that is xx
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are beautiful. Sorry you had such an awful experience at the dentist too. I had that happen years ago with the numbing not taking, my dentist sent me home and rescheduled, he said it just was not the right day. He was right because when I went back a week later I numbed up on the first try. ~Diane
