Cut thin strips of metal sheet to make my ribbon. Next I laid it all on the card. Stamped the sentiment and added some sequins. I am linking this at Festive Friday #42 and Word Art Wednesday #155

Diwali Blog Hop 2014

This is my second post for the day, please click HERE to check out my card for STAMPlorations Bi-weekly Sketch Challenge #22

Hello and welcome to the Diwali Bloghop 2014. You must be hopping over from Smriti's blog. This hop was master minded by Chaitali of Cuts, crops and creativity and just like last year, we are continuing our trend to make some festive, ethnic Diwali cards for inspiration and celebration of this festival.
Displaying DiwaliHopLogo.jpg
Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated by Hindus to honor the home coming of our Lord Ram from a war after defeating Raavana. This festival also emphasizes on the belief that the Goddess Laxmi (The Goddess of money) will arrive in our homes and bring prosperity. Diwali can be compared to Christmas in terms of how important and big this festival is for us :) I am excited to celebrate this day with my family :)

But of course before I head off towards the preparations for the festival, I will share a card I created.
The diya/ earthen lamp on my card was hand drawn and the BG was done with distress inks and water stamping using Inkadinkadoo Dots and flourishes stamp set. The sentiment was stenciled and hand written. I am linking this at The Paper Players #218 - CAS Silver/ Gold and Storie di timbri, carta e #9 - Combo colors (for me its red and yellow)

There is a lot more ethnic and elegant inspiration for you, please hop on to Indira's blog.
Also, here is the list of all the stops in the hop, in case you missed any spot...

STAMPlorations Bi-weekly Sketch Challenge #22

Hi friends! Its time for a new sketch challenge at STAMPlorations Bi-weekly Sketch Challenge #22. This challenge ends on October 31st and the winners would be announced on November 2nd. We have a very talented Guest Designer Leslie Hanna joining us for this challenge. She makes amazing cards. You can check out more of her creations at her blog The Crooked Stamper

Let's get to the sketch and my card...
To make this card, I wanted to use the stamp from a new line of STAMPlorations called Bee's Knees - Rosebuds. These stamps are designed by our very talented Shirley Bampton. The stamps are so fab and trendy. So I started out by stamping and embossing the rosebuds around a lightly marked oval on a water color cardstock. Then I used distress inks to water color my card. Finally, to create a focal point, I drew an oval with white gel pen, stamped sentiment and added some pearls. I am entering this card to a few challenges - Crazy for CAS #55 - One layer and stampedCAS on Sunday #44 - Emboss itInkspirational #67 - Purple and Grey

Once dried, I die cut the lower edge with PPP border die and colored it yet again. Also added some yellow color wash around the leaf. CAS-ual Friday's Stamps Feature - Thanksgiving !!

Hello friends!! Today I am here for CAS-ual Friday's Stamps  feature post. For this post I thought it would be good to create some cards for the Thanksgiving :) which is right around the corner.

I created two cards using the CAS-ual Friday's Amber waves set and also incorporated the CAS-ual Friday's 4 Petal Fri-Die in one of the card. I had so much fun. Here's a look into my cards and how I made them....

Lately, I have been obsessed with water colors... so obviously I have used water colors. The watercoloring was done using distress inks, namely Mustard seed, Vintage photo and Antique linen. For the first card, I die cut the flowers in water color paper and colored them. On the card base, I added the sentiment in a curvy line linking the flower placement. Then I added some circular strokes of water color in yellow and brown. I also stamped the wheat from the stamp set. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment, added the flowers and sequins. I am linking this card to Virginia's View Challenge #8 - CAS and House of Cards October challenge - Use Dies, Keep it simple #50 - Three
In my second card, I did some watercolor wash technique starting with darkest of brown at the corner and going lighter to the inside. Then I stamped the wheat in distress inks and went over with a water brush to smudge the look. To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment.  I am linking this card to Simon Say's Wednesday Challenge - Use water colors, Just us girls challenge #262 - Ombre and Crazy for CAS #55 - One layer stamped

I enjoyed making these cards! I hope I was able to inspire you. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment :)
